Just a quick update that we had a great end of the year Philadelphia Flash MMUG meeting this past Tuesday. Tony Profeta of the Art Institute of Philadelphia Multimedia Club was nice enough to take time out on his own birthday (in 30 degree weather no less) to make sure we had a place to hold the meeting and secure us a projector and screen for the presentation. Double props to Tony!
Thanks to everyone who came out for the meeting and showed their support for my first stab at running things. Everything went off without a hitch, and we got to cover quite a bit of material, although there is never enough time to cover everything I had planned, we hit most of the items. Thanks to the members who wrote in with suggestions on topics to cover. We covered some info about the MovieClipLoader and its usage, some info about Central, Flex, and even got to speak for a bit about some questions concerning Microsofts Longhorn/Avalon/Sparkle information. I promised to post up some of the files and URL’s along with the presentation, and I will do my best to get those items posted before the end of the week.
Afterwords we all headed over to the Nodding Head for some great locally brewed beer and further conversations. Sometimes this is the best part of the meetings where folks can network and talk in an even more casual and relaxed atmosphere. Plus there is beer! 😉
Stephen Rittler of the Philadelphia ColdFusion MMUG even made his way out and showed his support and brought along some very cool embroidered Philly Developers Network shirts for the next meeting for me to give away. Stephen is also part of the Philly Developers Network a new group that is trying to bring some crossover and consolidation of efforts of some of the local user groups and developers in the greater Philadelphia and surrounding areas. A great idea that I’m going to try and get more involved in for the coming year. If you are in the Philly area, take a look at the Philadelphia ColdFusion MMUG site as they are having a meeting later today at 3pm, and it should be a good one.
One final note, if you are interested in speaking at one our meetings this coming year, please feel free to drop me a line and let me know, we are open to just about anything.
